The premier fair for higher education student recruitment in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru.
Hello
The premier fair for higher education student recruitment in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru.
Historic trends show that more Latin Americans study abroad at the postgraduate level as opposed to the undergraduate. However, there has been growing interest from younger students to go further afield for their first degree, with Latin undergraduate enrolments steadily rising for overseas destinations.
BMI’s approach harnesses this appetite to study abroad via a two-pronged brand strategy that mirrors the demands of the local student market:
Through pre-event targeting, we are able to bring both degree levels under one roof, and then direct participants accordingly. Attending students are given badges that easily identify them by their course level of interest, and all exhibiting institutions clearly signpost the course levels they offer. Additional providers such as language and pathway programmes that prepare students for higher education are also well suited to participate.
In this way, recruiters are able to tap into both the depth and breadth of the Latin American market and easily meet prospects who match their educational offering.
Backed by more than 30 years of experience running fairs across Latin America and Brazil, as well as in the Middle East and Asia, BMI is proud to take you to three of the most important student recruitment cities in Mexico in Spring 2025.
After Brazil, Mexico has the second largest economy and population in the region, which makes it a natural addition to your recruitment itinerary. Due to a healthy appetite for overseas education combined with rising middle and upper class incomes, Mexico is a ripe market for recruiters who are keen to welcome its vivacious students to their campus.
Before you arrive, be sure to download our latest Mexico Market Report offering a 60-page deep dive into Mexico’s education and recruitment scene.
The demand for language courses, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes has been booming in Colombia and the outlook for international student mobility remains strong for the years ahead. As one of the hottest markets for international student recruitment, Colombia deserves a key place in your marketing mix.
BMI has organised fairs in Colombia since 1996 and has also operated a special event series called EuroPosgrados Colombia on behalf of Campus France and DAAD, held annually from 2010 to 2019.
Our fairs are held in-country twice a year and bring you into three bustling Colombian cities (Bogotá and Medellín) and , making it the perfect platform for institutions to recruit at all education levels.
The Peruvian economy has experienced a boom in the last decade and as a result, there has been increasing interest in Peru as a student recruitment market.
Education institutions have increased their engagement in Peru’s capital city Lima since the government launched the “Pronabec Becas de la República” programme – a government initiative to increase funding for postgraduate courses. The government in Peru has, over the last few years, made a whole range of scholarship programmes available, some of which have had a very positive effect on student mobility.
With Peru developing well economically and becoming more outward looking in its quest to develop human capital, it is an exciting time to be recruiting in Peru.
Chile is the only South American OECD member and is recognised as one of the strongest performing economies in the region. The country has the highest human development index and one of the highest GDPs per capita in Latin America.
To fuel outbound student mobility and increase interest in postgraduate studies abroad, the Chilean government continues to fund their popular Becas Chile scholarship programme. Meanwhile, their “Penguins without Borders” programme funds the best high school students to study for six months in New Zealand or Canada at the secondary school level.
BMI attracts more than 6,500 visitors to their student recruitment fairs in Chile annually. As the international education market in Chile is maturing, Chilean students are looking for a range of opportunities overseas including language, undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Ecuador is home to a growing number of ambitious students eager to study abroad, particularly at the postgraduate level. With limited local options for master’s and PhD programmes, many look overseas to pursue advanced degrees. Government-funded scholarships through SENESCYT actively support international study, especially in STEM fields, and often require students to return and apply their knowledge, producing highly motivated, high-achieving candidates.
