New BMI Americas Scholarship Summit expands educational partnership opportunities in western hemisphere

International education services firm BMI is delighted to announce the launch of a new event dedicated specifically to the heads of scholarship and training programmes from across North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean.

The BMI Americas Scholarship Summit will connect educational institutions from around the world with funding agencies, outbound government and private scholarship providers that support students from the Americas to study overseas.

The Summit will consist of private meetings combined with networking events and take place at the Hilton in Bogotá, Colombia on November 21-22, 2019.

Each educational institution that attends will have the ability to pre-arrange 21 meetings with scholarship and training providers of their choice. In addition, delegates will have the opportunity to mingle and solidify relationships during five star networking functions such as coffee breaks, lunches, a cocktail reception and a gala dinner.

New BMI Americas Scholarship Summit unlike any event in the western hemisphere

BMI’s Scholarship Summits are particularly unique in their ability to bring together the directors and senior staff from the most important scholarship and funding organisations around the world. These powerful leaders in the international education industry attend BMI’s summits in order to meet with foreign institutions and determine which ones will receive their funded students.

BMI’s CEO Samir Zaveri explains the impetus for the launch: “Helping institutions and organisations make connections is at the heart of BMI’s activities. We’ve been running events in Latin America since 1987 and we’ve seen the region evolve over the years, with student numbers and the appetite to study abroad growing year on year. Outbound numbers are often proportional to a country’s size and population, and with many smaller nations in this part of the world, it can be difficult for international institutions to travel to all of them, yet there is strong demand and government support for the study abroad sector. Giving foreign institutions access to this demand and support is what the BMI Americas Scholarship Summit is all about.”

Mr. Zaveri continues, “Creating this event was an easy choice based on our experience and year on year success with similar high profile summits held annually in Abu Dhabi and London. And with no other event like it in the region, we anticipate registration numbers will fill up very quickly.”

Language schools, vocational providers and higher education institutions can register their interest in attending via the website or by contacting BMI’s Director of Sales Rupert Merrick at rupert@bmiglobaled.com.

Government support from across the region

Due to the strength of BMI’s connections and global track record of success, the new Americas Scholarship Summit has received official government support from Colfuturo, Colombia’s first and most influential scholarship programme provider.

Since 1992, Colfuturo has granted over 13,000 scholarship-loans to Colombian students, enabling them to pursue graduate programmes in more than 775 higher education institutions all over the world. Each year, approximately 1,200 full scholarships are provided for students studying masters programmes, MBAs and PhDs.

The BMI Americas Scholarship Summit expects to draw in decision makers and leaders from over a dozen countries across North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean.

Face to face networking with crucial scholarship organisations

The launch of the BMI Americas Scholarship Summit was announced during this year’s Global Scholarship Summit held in London. As attendee Michael Bissell from the University of Birmingham explains in our quick video clip, the unique format of BMI’s scholarship events helps his institution make crucial connections in places they don’t get to visit often, especially in Central and South America.
