The political and security situation has increased the desire of Venezuelan students to pursue education outside their country. As a large number of Venezuelan students hold Italian, Portuguese or Spanish passports this facilitates the process of enrolling into a course abroad.

BMI co-organises the student recruitment fairs in Venezuela with AVAA, the official advisor of the American and Canadian embassies in the country. 12,000 students were estimated to be studying abroad in 2013.
