BMI/THE connects you to…
Asia

A region renowned for academic excellence, commitment and strength

For many decades, international student recruiters have enjoyed the growth coming out of Asia with mature markets like China, South Korea or Japan consistently producing tip-top graduates and multiple countries in Southeast Asia increasingly sending larger numbers of students abroad.

Throughout the region, international education providers recruiting at BMI/THE events can look forward to meeting academically focused students, helpful high school counsellors, and various scholarship organisations fuelling outbound mobility. Via multiple events targeting different audiences, you’ll be able to cover the whole of Asia – from China’s up-and-coming Tier 2 cities to Southeast Asia’s hottest hubs.

For more than 35 years, we’ve been helping institutions around the world hit enrolment targets and increase student diversity. With one of our satellite offices over in Sydney, Australia, Asia is right on our doorstep, making market access and insights a breeze. And BMI/THE, much like the forecasts for a market such as Vietnam, shows no signs of slowing down… and neither should you.

Education fairs to connect you with Indonesian, Thai and Vietnamese students at all academic levels

With so much growth coming out of these emerging markets, we’ve designed a full roadshow of integrated events in Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam that connect you with students and partners at every stage of the recruitment journey. The programme of events includes our busy fairs and escorted visits into top high schools.

Meeting students and their families face to face while they are actively researching and selecting study abroad opportunities is a fantastic way to bring your brand to life and create a personal connection with your prospects. Held twice a year, our Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam Global Education Fair has been growing annually, as eager, ambitious Asians increasingly spread their wings to experience education abroad.

Recruit younger students from Indonesia, Thailand & Vietnam

In addition to our International School Forums (mentioned below), BMI/THE has two more solutions to directly connect you with younger learners in Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta:

  • As part of our main Global Education Fairs, we also take a select number of institutions into leading private high schools known for producing gifted students with the financial wealth to enable them to study overseas. You’ll exhibit directly to senior students and high school counsellors at several schools, with helpful BMI/THE staff on hand to manage every aspect of the visit – from escorted bus rides to the setup of all your materials – giving you a hassle-free experience so you can concentrate on what you do best: recruiting students.
  • If you’re recruiting for boarding schools, high schools and summer camps, we recommend our K-12 pavilion, the BMI/THE Global Boarding & High School Fair, which coincides with the main fair but specifically targets parents with younger children.

Workshops to help you forge relationships with influential high school counsellors

Given the fact that students are going abroad at younger and younger ages, having firm links at the secondary school level in your target recruitment countries is crucial. Our International Schools Forum & Workshop (with a regional focus across all of Southeast Asia as well as a country focus with our China event) enables you to establish and strengthen relationships with high school principals and counsellors who regularly advise students and parents on which countries and institutions abroad are the best match for them. These attendees represent the top bilingual, intercultural and private schools from both inside China and across 8 countries throughout the entire Southeast Asia region, creating the perfect network and pathway for higher education overseas.

Over two full days of luxurious meals, coffee breaks and structured meetings, you’ll have multiple opportunities to mingle with the best schools from the region under one roof. Each participating counsellor is fully hosted by BMI/THE and has been selected and specifically invited to the event based on their school’s record of students travelling abroad for higher education. Attending counsellors also receive extra academic content and training which forms part of Times Higher Education Counsellor Accreditation Programme (THE CAP).

Receive funded students from across Asia via scholarship programmes

Additionally, the most prestigious event on BMI/THE’s calendar is the Global Scholarship Summit, held each spring in London. With a truly global feel, the Summit attracts all the key scholarship programme providers from over 40 countries around the world, giving you an unprecedented opportunity to form alliances with not only scholarship organisations from Asia, but from all over the globe.

In the international education industry, there is truly no other event like it.

In-depth insights on Indonesia, Vietnam and China

BMI has co-produced three reports on Asia in partnership with Jackfruit Marketing:

The Indonesia Report offers a deep dive into the country’s demographics, economic growth, education system, enrolments and reforms as well as outbound preferences and trends. Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and the fourth most populous country in the world. Its size and strength simply cannot be underestimated, with unlimited opportunities for recruiters from the secondary school level up to colleges and universities.

Vietnam has been one of the best countries for international education recruiters for several years running, making it one of our favourite emerging markets. As our Vietnam Market Report shows, all signs continue to point up: demand for education abroad, outbound students, incomes, economic forecasts and gradual reforms to the country’s own education system.

Meanwhile, to bolster your knowledge of China’s booming Tier 2 cities, you’ll find a wealth of statistics and insights in our China T2 Report covering Chengdu, Hangzhou, Jinan, Shenyang, Wuhan, and Xi’an. These Tier 2 cities are undergoing rapid expansion with vast improvements in infrastructure, transportation, education, employment and standards of living, making them a hotbed for international student recruitment.
